• Testosterone cypionate is a synthetic, long-acting ester of the male hormone testosterone.
• Legal medical use: Medically, testosterone cypionate is a controlled substance prescribed to treat hypogonadism (abnormally low testosterone levels) in men under a doctor’s supervision. The pharmaceutical version is sold under the brand name Depo-Testosterone.
• Illegal black-market use: In the context of bodybuilding, black-market products like Ultima-Cyp are used without medical supervision at much higher doses than medically prescribed, which significantly increases the risk of side effects. 

• Cardiovascular problems: Increased risk of high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol levels, heart attack, stroke, and blood clots.
• Hormonal dysfunction: Suppression of the body’s natural testosterone production, which can cause infertility, testicular shrinkage, and gynecomastia (male breast development).
• Psychological effects: Severe mood swings, aggression (“roid rage”), anxiety, and depression.
• Androgenic effects: Severe acne, oily skin, and accelerated male-pattern hair loss in predisposed individuals.
• Liver damage: High doses of testosterone can strain the liver, with rare reports of liver tumors associated with long-term, high-dose use.
• Virilization in women: Female users can experience irreversible masculine features, such as a deepened voice and clitoral enlargement.
