• Medical origin: Drostanolone (also known as dromostanolone) was formerly used to treat advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
• Mechanism: It works by attaching to androgen receptors, which can help block the growth of certain types of breast cancer cells. It is also known for its strong androgenic properties.
• Illegal use: Bodybuilders and athletes illegally acquire drostanolone to increase muscle hardness, improve definition, and build strength, particularly during “cutting cycles” for fat loss. 

• Increased blood pressure.
• Unhealthy cholesterol levels (often increasing “bad” LDL cholesterol and lowering “good” HDL cholesterol).
• Increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and blood clots. 

• Suppression of the body’s natural testosterone production, leading to testicular shrinkage and infertility in men.
