Ultima-Ment 50 is an unapproved anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) made by the illegal underground laboratory, Ultima Pharmaceuticals. The product contains trestolone acetate, also known as 7α-methyl-19-nortestosterone (MENT), at a concentration of 50mg/ml. Trestolone acetate was developed for medical purposes, but was never legally marketed.
Clinical background
Trestolone (MENT) was first developed in the 1960s and studied for potential use as a hormonal male contraceptive and for androgen replacement therapy. Studies in hypogonadal men showed that MENT can support androgen-dependent functions, such as maintaining sexual behavior. As a drug, it has a number of features that made it potentially suitable for long-term use, such as its resistance to 5α-reductase, which would prevent an over-amplification of its effects in the prostate, and its ability to be administered in a sustained-release implant form. However, the drug never received full clinical approval.
Non-medical use in bodybuilding
Ultima-Ment 50 is used illegally by bodybuilders and athletes for performance and physique enhancement. Its non-medical use is largely due to its potent anabolic effects, which are considered to be far greater than those of testosterone.
